The 2024 Rose City Yarn Crawl’s theme is Flora and Fauna of the Pacific Northwest. Fiber Rhythm Craft & Design chose Coho and Lichen as our sub-theme. Our yarn choice is Freia Fine Handpaints Shaniko Merino wool which is raised in eastern Oregon. Our shop patterns again this year are designed by owner, Dawn Seymour, and create similar scarves whether knit or crochet. The mesh scarf is made from the Lichen colorway and the fish are made from the Coho colorway. Each kit has enough yarn to make one scarf.
The Coho colorway moves from dark grays to bright salmon colors, mimicking the changing colors of these fish over their life cycle. The green-grays and bright greens of the Lichen colorway can be found in our native wolf lichen and old man’s beard.
Each kit consists of:
Fiber: Three ply 100% US Shaniko mulesing-free Fingering Merino
Care: Machine was cold, tumble dry low (or dry flat)
Ball Size: 2x50g/1.76 oz - 416 meters/456 yards (total)
Yarn Weight: Fingering
Gauge: 28 sts/36 rows over 4” on US3 (3.25mm) needles
Knit Pattern uses US 8/5mm and US 3/3.25mm knitting needles (long enough to work a 9" wide scarf).
Crochet patten uses US 8/5mm Tunisian hook (long enough to work an 8" wide scarf) and US D/3.25mm crochet hook.
Would you like just the patterns? These are available on ravelry: Knit version and Crochet version.
10% of the purchase of each of these kits will be donated to the Oregon Food Bank.
We use USPS for most of our shipping and currently ship to US addresses only.
