Course: Two 6-hour sessions over the course of two days with a half hour break for lunch each day
Class size: 5 - 6 students

Calling all rigid heddle and multi-shaft weavers! Are the colors in your projects just not popping? Have you ever picked out yarns that look wonderful together on the cones, but when you wind the warp and start weaving they don't look the way you envisioned? This is the class for you! 

Deb Essen, owner and designer of dje handwovens, will lead this class where students will explore color theory, color value, and blending colors so your weaving projects sing! 

Before class each student will pick an inspiration for colors and wind a warp according to instructions that students will receive prior to class. Students will warp and weave samples in class and when finished analyze the results together.

Skill Level:  Beginning through Advanced Weavers

Required Skills: Students must be comfortable independently warping their looms.

Materials Provided by instructor: Pre-class instructions will be provided to students via email once they've signed up for the class. Handouts will also be supplied on the day off class. 

Please Bring:

• A 10" or wider rigid heddle loom (only one heddle is required), OR a multi-shaft loom 
• Something to take notes on and with
• Scissors, measuring tape or ruler - any weaving tools you need to warp/weave in class
• A picture for color inspiration (either a physical copy or an image on a tablet or computer). Make sure the image isn't too small as it will be shared with the class.
  
• 4 colors of yarn that are reflected in the student's picture to inspire your warp
• A wound warp chain with yarn of the student's choosing using the appropriate plain weave sett
• A supply of weft yarns that are not the same as the warp yarns 
• 4 contrasting colors of yarn in your choice of yarn size and color
• 2 shuttles
• 1 small bobbin each in white, black, and/or grey 

If you need to add a loom rental for your class, we do offer 2-week loom rentals which work great for this class. Options include: The Sample It Loom and the Knitter's Loom. Rentals are limited.
