Class Description

Teacher: Carly Jayne
Course: One 4 hour session
Class limited to 5 students

Take a colorful leap into Krokbragd, a bold and vibrant form of weaving that originated in Sweden. Students will learn to warp, thread, weave, and design boldly patterned mats or mug rugs using their rigid heddle loom.

Skill Level: Intermediate; students should be able to warp and weave a plain weave rigid heddle project independently.

Please Bring:

  • Prepped Rigid Heddle loom (minimum 10-inch width) with double heddle block*
  • Two 7.5 or 8 EPI heddles OR one 7.5/8 heddle and one 10 EPI heddle OR one 7.5/8 EPI heddle, dowel and a pick up stick
  • sley hook
  • 8-10" stick shuttles. Alternative shuttle materials will be provided, so bring what you have available.

*Note: The loom must be warped with 8/4 and ready to thread in class (instructions will be provided before the class).

*Double heddles are recommended, but we can cover using string heddles and pick-up sticks if needed. Instructions for two different heddle sizes will be provided.

If you plan to use one heddle, bring a pick-up stick and a dowel.

Provided by teacher:

  • Handouts
  • Hand Dyed Highland Wool (approx 225 grams total)
  • Materials for students to make DIY shuttles

Materials cost: $35 (payable to the teacher by cash, check, or Venmo). This is in addition to class cost.

(Samples pictured are shown in highland wool)

If you need to add a loom rental for your class, we do offer a 2-week Sample It Loom rental that works great for this class. Rentals are limited.
