Sock Knitting - Part 3 - Toes

Lesson: one 1.5 hour session. This class is taught as a private one-on-one lesson, or you can sign up your friends at the same time and create a private group class for a discounted price. Class limited to 5 students.

Have you made it through knitting your first sock, but don't understand or can't picture what the instructions are telling you to do for the toes? Or have you taken Parts 1 and 2 of our Sock Knitting series and are ready for Part 3?  This lesson is the final in a 3-part series that teaches you how to knit a cuff-down sock. This class picks up where the Heel class left off, or after you have knitted the heel and foot of the sock already on your own and just want help with the toes. 

Part 3 - Toes
Skills covered include:
  • Measuring the foot and establish beginning of toe
  • Shape the toe
  • 2 options for finishing toe (kitchener stitch vs. regular bind off)
  • Review of elements of sock construction
  • Discuss/explore ideas for your next sock project

You will now have finished your first sock and are ready to tackle the matching second sock on your own. This will be a good time to explore what an appropriate next project could be that builds on your new skills while allowing you to stretch into new territory.

Prerequisite techniques/materials:  You should have knit your sock from the cuff down to where the toe begins.
