Class Description

Have you learned how to knit and purl but don't know what project to do next? Take this skill-building class and knit a warm, cozy beanie. This is a quick and easy knit project that can be completed in a day.

During three hours of class time, you will learn some new skills:

  • Provisional (open) cast on
  • Short rows (wrap & turn)
  • Kitchener join

Class is conducted in two 1-1/2 hour sessions with time in between for students to work on their projects. During the first hour and a half, you will learn how to work a provisional (open) cast on, then set up and work sections of the beanie using a short-row technique.

In the second session, we will demonstrate the kitchener join, which is used to complete the circle of the hat. Those students that have completed the knitting will be able to practice the join during class, others will simply watch the demonstration and complete their projects at home.
