Mending on Knits - Private Lesson
Teacher: Elise Webb
Skill Level: Intermediate (see description)
Time: One 2-hour session
Does your favorite hand-knit shawl have a pesky hole? Have moths gotten to your store-bought sweater? Join Elise for a “darn” good time, and together we’ll look at how to choose the right fix for any knit. Anything from a classic darn to invisible re-knitting!
We’ll start by looking at the structure of the knitted garment itself and the problem of a hole. We’ll move on to the idea of “re-knitting” and discuss the classic darn. Finally, we’ll take a look at some of the more niche tools in my mending kit and learn how they’re used. You can even add the tools to your knitting bag!
No knitting experience is required; however, this is a fairly technical class that would not be suitable for young children or those who are just taking their first steps into the crafting world.
All practice tools and materials will be provided in this hands-on class. However, feel free to bring in your own damaged items as well. We won’t fix them in class, but we’ll examine them and make sure you have the proper skills to mend them at home.
Materials Fee: $5 materials fee per student is due to the instructor at time of class.
TO BOOK: Select the number of students first, and then book your class time. This class is taught as a private one-on-one lesson, or you can sign up your friends at the same time and create a private group class for a discounted price. Class limited to 6 students.
