This edge weight hook (hanger) is shaped like the number 7. Place the top of the "7" in from the edge of the knitting in between the two needle beds, then place a barrel weight on the hook at the bottom. This places a good amount of weight on the edges of the fabric, helping the edge stitches form correctly.
